What is Hydrotherapy?

Hydrotherapy is a controlled form of exercise in warm water that supports recovery, relieves pain and improves mobility. It’s particularly effective for dogs recovering from surgery or injury, managing ongoing conditions or needing help with fitness or weight loss. The warm water reduces pain, muscle tension and swelling. Its buoyancy supports the body, making movement easier for dogs who struggle with land-based exercise. The water’s resistance also helps rebuild strength, restore movement and improve cardiovascular fitness.Hydrotherapy can benefit dogs of all breeds, sizes and life stages. It may be used:· Post-operatively, to support recovery· Pre-operatively, to maintain condition· For degenerative or neurological conditions· As general conditioning for dogs with limited activity on landEach programme is tailored to your dog’s individual needs. A signed veterinary referral is required before starting.

Underwater Treadmill.

Our state-of-the-art underwater treadmill allows us to deliver highly targeted hydrotherapy sessions based on your dog’s individual condition, mobility and recovery goals. We can adjust water levels and belt speed to focus on specific joints and muscle groups, encourage safe weight-bearing and improve range of motion especially for dogs who struggle with land-based movement. The warm, sanitised water (maintained between 30–32°C) provides both buoyancy and resistance. This reduces pressure on the joints while helping to strengthen muscles, improve circulation and restore natural movement patterns. The treadmill’s clear sides allow us to closely monitor posture and gait throughout each session, ensuring treatment is always precise and responsive.Because of its controlled environment, our treadmill also allows us to begin post-operative rehabilitation earlier and more safely than would be possible on land - supporting a smoother and more confident recovery.

Laser Therapy.

What to Expect in a Session.

At your first visit, you’ll be welcomed to the centre and given a short overview of how we work. We’ll review your vet referral, discuss your goals and complete a health check and gait assessment before fitting your dog with a harness.Your dog will then be rinsed and gently guided into the treadmill. We fill it to the correct water level and run the belt in short, controlled bursts with rest periods. After the session, your dog will be rinsed again, shampooed, towel dried or blow-dried (if comfortable) and we’ll go over any findings and aftercare advice with you.
